Sewer camera inspection

A camera scope is the only way to know what's actually happening inside a sewer line. Roots, a belly, a broken joint, a collapsed section: guessing wrong on a sewer repair is expensive. Guessing right starts with footage.
When is it worth the money?
- Recurring clogs: if the main line keeps backing up, find out why instead of paying for snake number three
- Before buying an older house: a scope on the lateral is cheap insurance on a 70-year-old pipe
- After a big repair quote: worth confirming the problem is what they say it is before a trench gets dug
- Slow drains across the whole house: points at the main, not the fixture
What does it cost?
It's the cheapest money in sewer work, and it often gets bundled when the scope follows a clearing. Any pro you hire should be able to show you the footage and explain what you're looking at, not just tell you it needs work.
What does it usually find around here?
In the older Yakima neighborhoods, root intrusion into clay laterals is the classic find. In post-war construction, cast-iron that's scaled and corroding from the inside. In newer builds, usually nothing, which is also a useful answer.
